This briefing was commissioned by the Department for Communities and Local Government to inform the development of the “Duty to Involve” – a duty which which was set to be launched in April 2008 for local authorities to work under.
The following information is based on the views and experiences of local authority practitioners, policy advisers, national VCS umbrella groups and community organisations who attended a workshop on 11 June 2007.
It also draws upon the findings of the Transforming Neighbourhoods Consortium and Neighbourhood Action Network and CDF’s practice experience.
