Studio Schools are a new type of state school designed to equip young people with the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to succeed in life and work. They are at the forefront of innovation in the English education system, offering a bold new approach to learning rooted in the real world.
Studio Schools have a very different style and ethos to most existing schools, with a much stronger emphasis on practical work and enterprise. Students, in schools of around 300 pupils, learn the national curriculum through interdisciplinary, enterprise-themed projects.
Studio Schools have been developed in partnership with local and national employers, the country’s leading education agencies, government, as well as local partners from up and down the country.
Three schools are already open and new schools will open across the country in the coming couple of years – aiming to establish a large network of schools across Britain.
Studio Schools is a venture from The Young Foundation working with schools, local authorities and Further Education colleges across the country.
