Over the past two years we provided support to nearly 600 communities taking part in Community First, an England-wide programme funded by the Office for Civil Society. Community First brought local volunteers together to identify  priorities and support local groups to take action – primarily through the distribution of small amounts of funding.

The support provided by The Young Foundation included:

– Bringing Community First panels together so they can learn from each other
– Helping panels to hear about good practice, including practice from outside the Community First Programme
– Supporting panels to develop their own websites or blogs
– Providing further intensive support to those panels who most need it

As part of the programme we developed the Community First Learning Exchange website, sharing case studies and resources from across the programme.

The Young Foundation worked alongside the Office for Civil Society, the Community Development Foundation, Ipsos MORI and nef on this programme, which ran until March 2015.
