Tony May

Programme Manager, Health Team: Social innovation and investment

Tony joined The Young Foundation in February 2017 to lead and support our health and well-being innovation work that tackles health inequalities.  Through this work Tony is seeking to promote a health creation system by building resilient communities and local movements for better health and well-being. This is where health becomes to be seen as a resource and not purely an outcome to enable people and communities to flourish in the way they desire.

Prior to joining the Young Foundation, Tony’s career was primarily within the NHS.  His last post was with Kingston Clinical Commissioning Group as a Commissioning and Redesign Manager, leading on Urgent Care and Out of Hospital services.  Until January 2017 he was also a trustee for YMCA London South West for just over 7 years, co-chairing their health and well-being subcommittee.

Tony holds a BSc (Hons) in Business Administration from the University of Bath. Outside of the NHS Tony has been involved with a number of transformative initiatives to realise a fair and lean economy (cf. David Fleming) and greater wellbeing, enabling people and planet to flourish within our planetary boundaries.
