Lucie has worked at the cutting edge of the social justice sector for 25 years. She started out as a youth worker, then qualified as a social worker and worked in children’s services for 5 years. She then went on to start The Big Issue magazine with its founder, John Bird and created The Big Issue’s charity, The Big Issue Foundation, which provides a range of support services to homeless people. She then went on to create SmartJustice, a national campaign based at the Prison Reform Trust which promoted community solutions to crime followed by becoming Campaigns and Media Director at YoungMinds, the UK’s leading young people’s mental health charity. Here she was responsible for the creation and development of all campaigning communications and research. She also led a highly successful young people led campaign on the pressures young people face. Her work at YoungMinds contributed to a step change in the profile of young people’s mental health and the work of YoungMinds. She then joined  NSPCC as Head of Online Safety and contributed to raising awareness of the vital importance of industry, parents and children and young people themselves tackling online risks. She then worked with Agenda Alliance and the Association of Young People’s Health where she had responsibility for communications reviews and profile raising before joining the Young Foundation.
