Freya Johnson Ross

Gender Futures Research Associate

Freya joined The Young Foundation in 2014 to work on the Gender Futures project. She is currently focused on building its research base in order to ground this work on social innovation and gender inequality. Prior to this Freya worked for a range of third sector organisations, bringing a focus on equalities to different areas, from health to financial services. Passionate about research for practical outcomes and positive social change she has enjoyed developing work across research, policy and campaigns, most recently at Citizens Advice. Originally from Glasgow, Freya has an MPhil in Gender Studies from the University of Cambridge, and PhD in Sociology from the University of Sussex where her work has focused on gender equality, policy and activism.
