The Young Foundation presents: Pass the Mic
Watch the interviews on TikTok…a campaign that amplifies young voices and shares the change they want to see.
For too long, young people haven’t had a say in how their communities run, how we look after our planet and how the people in power can improve their futures. Now, it’s time to #PassTheMic to the voices of the future.
What is Pass the Mic?
#PassTheMic puts young people front and centre, giving them the stage to share their voices. We hit the streets to speak to young people and find out what they think about the communities they live in, the planet and their future prospects and what changes they believe those in power need to make to improve things for everyone. Now they need us to listen.
It's time to listen to the voices of the future
We’re choosing to amplify young voices.
For too long, young haven’t had a say in how their communities are run in the places they live, in how we look after our planet, and in how the government can improve their future prospects.
With help from our friends at Studio Chapel, we hit the streets to #PassTheMic. Because when we listen to young voices, we can create the change that really needs to happen.
Voices from the street
With our campaign partners at Studio Chapel, we took to the streets to hear from young people about their views on their communities, the environment, and their hopes for the future. Here’s what they had to say…
What could you and other local young people do to live a greener life?
“I think just being conscious of your impact is half the battle. How you vote and where you donate – I mean, that’s it, isn’t it?”
What would you change about you local area to make it better for young people?
“There’s one library in the whole [area]. I think we need to make more spaces to work from home for people like me.”
Do you think you have the same opportunities as previous generations to create the future you want?
“So many people that I know have two jobs because they can’t support themselves on one job.”
What could you and other local young people do to live a greener life?
“Try and be conscious about what you’re buying. I try to make sure that I’m getting something I’m going to get a lot of use out of.”
Do you think you have the same opportunities as previous generations to create the future you want?
“I have more opportunities of where I want to live in the world, less opportunities because I feel like it’s so much more expensive.”
Do you think you have the same opportunities as previous generations to create the future you want?
“Rent is so expensive, and you end up compromising a lot in your values just to live.”
