Abstract
This publication, funded by the Power to Change Research Institute, provides quantitative and qualitative information about the size, characteristics and performance of the community shop sector in the UK. It is based on statutory data sourced from the Financial Conduct Authority, together with electronic questionnaires completed by 38 community businesses in 2017 and detailed telephone surveys from shops that opened in 2017, as well as l information held by Plunkett Foundation on every shop going back over 12 years. This is the most extensive and comprehensive research report to have been produced on the community shop sector in the UK.
