Location: online

In this Hive Minds webinar, we’ll be joined by Haringey Council and community researchers from the Community Voices project to explore what ‘inclusive’ community research means, and how public organisations can create a space for inclusive practice.

Over the course of a year, Haringey Council facilitated this project to look at communities’ experiences during the cost of living crisis, seeking to reach Haringey’s less heard communities. There were seven community researchers from the Charedi, Turkish, Kurdish, Latin American, and disability and long-term conditions communities. They recruited and interviewed more than 40 participants, generating invaluable evidence about communities’ networks of information, advice, and support.

Throughout the project, Haringey Council officers challenged their ways of working, putting participation principles into practice. This process wasn’t always easy, and they often met procedural barriers, which are pertinent to most public sector organisations: robust processes and financial considerations.

This webinar will discuss how it is possible to support inclusive community research within public sector organisations, sharing learnings from Haringey’s approach as well as first-hand experiences from community researchers on the project. This can support and inform others who want to launch community research initiatives.

Join us for a rich discussion followed by a Q&A to share perspectives.
