In this Hive Minds webinar, we’ll be joined by peer researchers, social action leads and local delivery partners from the ground-breaking Peer Action Collective (PAC) programme. Led by young people, and in support of young people, this network addresses the escalating crisis of youth safety and violence across England and Wales, harnessing the power of participation to create safer communities.
As the programme’s national partner, The Young Foundation has trained, supports and works alongside teams of 16- to 20-year-olds, working alongside 13 local organisations to undertake peer research to better understand the drivers of violence, and crucially, undertake social action to address these. From 2020 to 2023, PAC heard from more than 6,000 young people.
In this phase of the programme, PAC will engage more than 5,500 young people from Birmingham, London, Cardiff, Bradford, Gateshead, Bristol, Blackburn, Middlesborough, Exeter and Hull. Collectively, the network is building evidence to inform direct action on the root causes driving violence.
In this webinar, young people from PAC will share initial key findings from their peer research projects. A team from Lancashire looked at the roles of schools, and a team from the South-west of England explored the role of trusted adults. Teams will also share first-hand experiences of working with young people in their communities.
Join us for this rich discussion, followed by a Q&A to share perspectives and learnings.
Speakers:
Peer Researchers from the South-west PAC team (Exeter City Community Trust and Bristol City Community Foundation)
Peer Researchers from the Lancashire PAC team (Blackburn with Darwen Healthy Living; Inclusive North and Child Action Northwest)
PAC is funded by the Youth Endowment Fund, the #iwill Fund (a joint investment between The National Lottery Community Fund and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport) and the Co-op Group.
