Senior Consultant, Institute of Public Care at Oxford Brookes University
Darren is both a senior consultant at the Institute of Public Care and a senior research fellow with the NIHR CLARHC, North Thames. He is a trained sociologist. His interests include the tools, methods and approaches to evaluative research with children, young people and vulnerable adults in the co-production of health, social care, and education policy. He is a highly experienced evaluator and has undertaken work on behalf of UK Research Councils, Central Government Departments, and NGOs and charities to assess the impact of national and locally-run public programmes.
Dr Sharpe has also lectured and designed modules in research and evaluation methods for doctoral, postgraduate and undergraduate students. He is held in high-esteem by students and colleagues for his teaching.
Dr Sharpe is a member of the University Research Ethics Committee and School Research Degree Sub-Committee at the University of East London, and is an expert on youth affairs for the European Commission and the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
