Senior Innovation Practitioner

Damian joined The Young Foundation in 2024. He is passionate about involving citizens in decision-making and has worked for more than 20 years in arts, health, campaigning and community engagement. Previous roles include Dialogue Manager at Wellcome Connecting Science, helping people living with genetic conditions to influence scientific research, and Head of Arts at Cambridge University Hospitals, where he established the country’s first dance programme on hospital wards and created a number of patient-led overhauls of the hospital environment.

Damian has campaigned extensively to promote the impact of creativity on people’s health and set up Creativity and Wellbeing, the UK’s national festival of creative health. He is on the board of 64 Million Artists, which promotes the value of everyday creativity, and is a Trustee of the Public Interest Research Centre, which supports movements for social, economic and climate justice to build compelling narratives that transform culture and policy.
