About the Young Foundation
Connected, thriving communities are the foundation of our society. They keeps us safer, happier and healthier – more resilient and able to face shared challenges. Today, The Young Foundation’s mission is to enable the development of connected, more sustainable and stronger communities across the UK. We do this through amplifying the stories and lived experiences of people in our communities; using this as a spur to drive locally-led community action and enterprise. We use what we learn across different communities to spot national patterns of need and opportunity, then work with national partners to support new ideas to tackle those shared challenges. Bringing together our own – and other people’s – work, we are building a shared body of evidence, tools and insights about how communities are taking action on the issues that affect them.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced, self-starting and energetic Investment Manager to take the lead on growing the social and financial returns from our Young Academy portfolio of education impact investments, and to support the development and delivery of new social finance programmes across the organisation. You will be responsible for managing the Young Academy portfolio of fifteen ventures, which consists of multiple kinds of organisations supported through convertible loan notes. The role affords a great deal of autonomy to shape the direction of the fund moving forward and to make a real impact on the ventures and, ultimately, the young people, educators and communities they serve. If you believe in the potential of social investment to achieve social change, are passionate about supporting social entrepreneurs leading dynamic early-stage ventures and enjoy working in a fast-paced and creative organisation, we would love to hear from you.
