Fancy Sinantha

Head of Development Team: External Affairs and Fundraising

Fancy is the Head of Development for the Young Foundation.

In her ten years in the non-profit world in the USA and UK, Fancy has honed her skills in matching people, projects, and organisations with the resources they need to make a positive social impact. Today, she counts herself lucky to be doing this to advance the pioneering work of The Young Foundation.

As Head of Development, Fancy helps oversee and guide the strongest possible partnerships for the organisation. Fundamentally, this is about connecting Young Foundation projects and ideas with the funding they need to get off the ground as well as leading organisational capacity building fundraising initiatives.

To achieve this, Fancy has developed a multidisciplinary skill set combining fundraising, relationship and project management, marketing, communications, and public affairs.

Fancy started her professional career as a Programme Assistant and then Programme Coordinator at the Migration Policy Institute in Washington D.C. She gained exposure in working for an international NGO as interim Desk Officer for the International Association for the Study of Forced Migration (IASFM), and was rapidly inducted into UK public policy and practice at the Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR) as a Team Administrator on Migration, Equalities, and Citizenship issues.

Fancy has spent time as a USA Congressional intern (Rep Gary Condit, California’s18th congressional district), a Spanish language-cultural exchange student at the University of Havana, and as a volunteer for causes like the American Church London Soup Kitchen.

She is a graduate of the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University, USA. Has continued her professional development through courses at the Directory for Social Change and other outfits in fundraising, project management, and marketing. And continues to work on her proficiency in Lao, Thai, and Spanish.

Fancy is a proud trustee of Praxis Community Projects, an advice and support charity for migrants and refugees based in East London.
