Working with partners and clients at a local, national and international level, we focus on issues of high social need that are not responding to typical solutions. Our approach is grounded in an informed and thoughtful understanding of peoples every day lives which create the potential to transform and bring about positive social change. We use a range of techniques to draw insight into our work, including ethnographic research, user journey mapping, prototyping, facilitation and stakeholder engagement. What is integral to our approach is understanding of needs at grass roots level, and engaging with the communities, agencies and partners who have the ability to deliver change. Our applied innovation work spans three areas:
- Strategy and policy: we generate and test new ideas, working with leaders to identify and develop innovations, redesign services and influence policy.
- Enabling and replicating innovation: we work within and across organisations to build their capacity to innovate, providing support at critical points in the innovation process. We test new models and help turn them into sustainable services, systems and ventures.
- Practical application: we work with individuals, frontline practitioners and organisations to develop pioneering ideas with them, build demonstration projects and test new models to maximise and ensure sustainable impact.
We have a diverse and experienced team which draws on a wide range of public, voluntary and private sector experience and we work closely alongside our Research and Ventures teams at The Young Foundation.
